I get the following two erors - how do I fix these.

This one when I boot up:
Windows Installer

This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package
exists and that you can access it. or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

This one when the screen saver tries to go into standby::

System Standby Failed

The device driver for the Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural P5/2
Keyboard device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please dose
all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to
update this driver.

For the first problem, when did this one start? Was it a sudden change
after a software install or uninstall? If it occurred right after a
software install, uninstall that software then do a system restore to before
the problem started. If you can't pinpoint when it started have you tried
system restore at all? That's what I would try first.

If that doesn't work run the windows installer clean up utility. See what
programs are listed and remove any that might be the culprit. You might
have to reinstall any software package that you remove with this utility.

I uninstalled Adobe Type Manager, and that cured the KB error.

Thanks.

Now for the 'installer' error.

This sounds like throwing the baby out with the bathwater - I don't want to
trash so much 'history' of installs that I might have to uninstall later.

Use it to find the one causing the problem. Did you run the utility?
Anything look out of place?

You're welcome!

For the Windows Installer problem:

You need to determine the name of the application which's being reinstall/repaired. If the application name can't be determined, check the Event logs. For more information, check the following article:

Checked link but not much help.

The 'event' (windows installer failed) occurred at bootup.

The event log did NOT show any 'hang' or 'error' occurring at that time.

In fact the error occurred at bootup today and no errors are shown AT ALL
today.

??????

In fact the error occurred at bootup today

If you don't have any clue about the name of the app being repaired, try isolating the problem by disabling startup applications one at a time to test.
