Hi,

Windows XP Professional, sp2 which used to recognise card reader or
pen/flash drive when plug in however all of a sudden, it doesn't recognise
them when any of them were plugged in. Strickly speaking, it partly
recognise. Those drives normally contains photos, when any of those drive
were plugged in, the photos were opened up in Adobe Photoshop Album Starter.
But I cannot see the drive from Windows Explorer or my computer. I have
tried all the usb ports with same result. I have restarted the pc which
doesn't help.

Anyone have similar experience? Any way to resolve the situation?

Do the pen drives or cards work on other systems? Do other pen drives or
USB devices work on these ports? Unfortunately, you may be seeing hardware
failure. It isn't unknown for USB devices to suddenly fail.

One thing that I see on Google as sometimes helping is to shut the computer
down completely, even as far as removing the power cord. Wait some period
of time, I see some waiting 30 minutes, and restart. You might also remove
from Device Manager the USB Root hubs, then scan for hardware changes.
They will be reinstalled.

And it's possible that the ports don't have enough power, which can indicate
something else.. do you have other USB devices attached? If so, unplug
them all and see what happens when you insert the pen drive. If this
helps, consider a powered USB hub.

Finally, do a Google search on "USB devices not recognised".
