windows doesn't detect canon camcorder

hello,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my problem.

I have windows XP pro and a canon zr60 camcorder. When I connect the canon
camcorder to my computer through my firewire cable, windows DOES NOT detect
the camcorder. In fact, nothing happens. My firewire card is fine as
windows has detected and installed the drivers for it with no problems.

Can anyone help me? I am desperate as I have movies on the camcorder that I
want to download to my computer.

Sorry, I can't solve your problem but I am having a similar problem trying to connect my JVC digital video recorder. I have E-mailed the manufacturer and the supplier of my pc for help and am awaiting their reply. Perhaps if you solve your problem you coule let me know and visa versa
