Windows Desktop Search

A quick question if I may. I am running office 2003 on windows xp 32-bit
professional on a HP desktop PC. The pc is a member of a domain and is
governed by GPO. On the pc Windows Desktop search is the default search
function. It is even searching in outlook for emails when I attempt a search.
Is there a way of disabling/removing this tool safely? I have checked the
GPO's in place and none of them relate to WDS. Any advice would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks

Nanny!

XP Home has it in the add/remove where it can be uninstalled or you can
unclick it in the msconfig>startup. Have you tried either?
