How do I know which file to download? I have Microsoft Anti Spyware Beta 1
and would like to install Defender. I have Windows XP SP2 and have broadband.

Thanks for a quick response! I'll download. I understand it is recomended
that I leave current version installed. Is that correct?

Hi B.J.,

My suggestion is:

Exit MSAS.

Remove from the Control Panel.

In Windows Program file, delete all the sub-directorys and the folder.

Look in \windows\downloaded Installations, for ant reference about MSAS and
deleted.

Final, look in windows\system32 for this files:
GcCollection.dll
Hashlib.dll
GcUncompress.dll
GcTyplibA.tbl
gcAntiSpawareLib.dll
gcUserData.gcd

if you see any of them, deleted.

Use Ccleaner with the issues (maybe you have to run twice the issues)

Disconect from Internet.

Exit any program on the task bar.(anti-virus or any other program running RTP_

And now Install.

Hello again. Did all you instructed and installed fine except the icon stays
on tray and tells me "found no new definitions or engine update available".
However, when I open the Defender Window it is stating that definitions have
not been updated for 22 days. When I click on update now it will not update.
What now? Thanks for your help in advance!

Fixed!! After reading a little further from another post, (I had uninstalled
and reinstalled WD) I used system Restore to first install and everything
completed fine, updates as well (signature Version 1.13.1276.3 built on
2/15/06). Posts are VERY HELPFUL!! Thanks to all!
