windows components

I cannot add most windows components in Windows XP.

I found this KB article and even applied the hot fix from MS, no help. I am
about to reformat.

Try inserting xp cd,then select "optional windows components",try to edit
from the cd instead of add/remove.

Was the program listed that you tried to install? Either way, which was it?

Have you tried to rebuild the security database?

Yes I tried to rebuild but lost it at Step 6, dont have the snap-in listed
in XP.

Turns out that even though i get the message that it cant find the files
that are there, it finally did load them. Beats me.
