Problem adding Windows Components

I'm using Windows XP Home SP-2. I tried to "add/remove windows components" to
install a new component. During the install, I experienced the error at
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=884018. The document at the above
address advises to rebuild my security database to fix this problem. The
example they give says it's for W2000--doesn't correlate to what I see on my
XP SP2 machine.

The document also mentions a hotfix for this situation.

Anyone aware of a description of how to fix this in more laymen-like terms?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried contacting them for the hotfix? Middle of the page - there's
a link to support.
