Windows CardSpace

Part of the new .NET Framework 3 update contains Windows CardSpace. I
happened to notice the new icon in Control Panel just by chance.
CardSpace was formerly known as InfoCard, some info here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa663320.aspx

It is an attempt to more easily manage the numerous usernames and passwords
required to visit different websites.
You can create a Personal Card for general use or request a Managed Card
from more secure sites such as online banking/shopping etc.

At least that's what the advertising says!

I assume this will take some time to get off the ground, as I have not seen
many posts even referring to the old InfoCard.
I don't remember being given the option to submit an InfoCard rather than a
username and password.

Not sure if/how it relates to the new EV SSL Root Certificates (turning
address bar green) but small businesses have reported that they cannot yet
register for this, although they have to pay for it. Might be the same with
CardSpace.

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to open a thread that will hopefully
give us all a better understanding of what's involved.
