.Net 3 and Windows CardSpace

The updates last Tuesday installed .NET 2.0 SP2 and also .NET 3.0 SP2 and
..NET 3.5 SP1. Now I have a new item in control panel called Windows
CardSpace which I don't object to but it doesn't work. Clicking on it opens
a window saying Select a card to preview but it closes after a few seconds.
Clicking it again produces this error:

An error occurred accessing Windows CardSpace. Please check the event log
for more details.

The event log doesn't mean much to me:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: CardSpace 3.0.0.0
Event Category: General
Event ID: 269
Date: 14/02/2009
Time: 23:01:32
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: BLACK
Description: The Windows CardSpace service is too busy to
process this request. User has too many outstanding requests.
(Plus a lot of other stuff).

My questions:

Is there a way to get CardSpace to work? If it does work is it useful to
me?
If it won't work do I have to uninstall .NET 3.0 and/or 3.5 to get rid of
it?

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Paul - thank you for the link. I think I now understand what CardSpace
is intended to do but my problem is that it won't work.

Any thoughts on how to fix it? Is a reinstall of the .NET applications
going to do any good?

I love toy technologies.

There are some applications that can cause this... See

Thanks to Paul and AG for your help. I have stopped Acronis schedhlp.exe
from running and now CardSpace works as it should.
