"Windows cannot find..." error attempting to connec to a shared resource

I have a PC running w2k professional configured to use an
AD domain. I connected it to my home network, and logged
in with a local account, but cannot access any shared
resources from my home network of WinXP machines. I have
attempted connecting to the shares using IP address rather
than hostname, but am still not succesful. I can ping any
of the ip's of the machines without problems.

The user name and password must be identical on each machine or you
MUST drag the shared stuff into the "shared" folder.

I'll try that. However, the error occurs when attempting
to map a network drive using the "connect as.." option and
entering a valid user account existing on the XP machine.

This did not have any affect. The same error still
occurs. The sharepoint was created using the sharing tab
from the folder properties, not the drag and drop "Shared
Files". I have no problems accessing the shares from any
of the other XP machines on my network, only the win2k
machine temporarily connected.
