Windows Auto Update doesn't work

We are having an issue with our Windows XP machines that
are on the NT domain. Windows Update will not work - the
address is v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com for Windows XP
machines.
All of our Win2K and Win 9x machines work fine, but those
versions use v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
All other update functions seem to work through the
domain; antivirus, Ad-Aware, etc.
Thanks in advance!

I only speak as an amateur. But when I had a problem involving Windows
Update, none of the advice, welcome though it was, made the problem go away.
So, if this happens to you, then remember that you can access the manual
download site www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx

All current critical and important updates are available, as well as past
updates. It is the only site I know that doesn't drive you straight back to
the [non-working!] Windows Update page. It is a workaround not a cure. But it
does work.

Dave, you might want to post your question to the experts in the windows
update newsgroup and provide more detailied information about what you
mean that windows update will not work.

That is the site where I found the website that I have set out in my previous
message.
