Windows Activation Reinstall backup tool

My son installs lots of demos and programs from the net so after a month or
so my computer is usualy so slow it feels like a pocket calc and i cant
remove all the files if i use system restore
so i reformat and reinstall windows
as microsoft knows a hell of a lot about the pc from activation could a app
be made that when it is run it ask microsoft for a code, then saves the code
and pc info to a removeable media or text code.
then after reinstall is complete insert media or type the code it then looks
at pc info and auto activates Could be part of msbackup eg backup activation
as a choice it could include a net date check so the backup is time limited
to a fue days

im sick of having to phone microsoft as there seems to be a limit to online
activation and it dose not seem to reset after the phone call to microsoft so
after the limit is reached i have to phone every time and it is so iratating
i dont mind activation but is there not a better way to stop copying i
understand a need to protect a valuable products but upsetting legitamate
users seems to be a bad thing

i have legitamate copys of Dos, Windows 3.1, 95, 98se retail, ME=Microsofts
Error?retail(worst of the os's listed), XP sp1 oem, XP sp2 retail, XPMCE 2005
oem, Vista 32 oem
but the copy protection microsoft has chosen is starting to turn me away
from windows
ps i dont backup my pc as by the time i have it running with my software on
it how i like it the backup is so large i would need 5 to 10 dvds and its
easyer to reinstall

Save yourself the trouble of all this reinstallation. After XP is installed
and you have installed all the base apps you want, image the system to an
external hard drive using Acronis True Image version 10. Then when you need
to go back to a clean slate restore the image. Drive space is very low cost
these days. Why waste time on reinstalling.

Also get another computer for your son. He can be responsible for messing
that up and cleaning up the mess.

Here is a suggestion for you..........get the kid his own computer if he
****s it up tough shit..let him fix it.
In the meanwhile buy yourself another HD and a Cloning program...like
Acronis True Image.
After you have Vista newly reinstalled and all of your programs running the
way you want and before you let the kid at it..clone the Computers HD to
that new HD.When done place that HD in a safe Place.Later after your
unsupervised kid screws your machine into an unworkable state.....remove the
HD and insert the Cloned HD......voila a new Vista ready to go.Format the
Removed HD and redo the clone and your ready for the next time your kid
screws it up.
fool me once shame on you........fool me twice shame on me

Hi,

If that worked, then a single individual could buy one copy of Vista, build
10, 100, or 1,000 machines from matching generic components, create a single
disk image and activate it on all of them. So much for copy protection by
activation....Suffice it to say it's a very complex issue and it's not going
away.

- You can use a third party program like Acronis or BING to image the system
in a pristine, activated state, then replace the image as needed.

- There is a tool from Microsoft for Vista that should be released sometime
this year called SteadyState that will allow you to undo any changes that he
makes to the system. It's a step up from the XP tool, and similar to Deep
Freeze, a popular tool used in the business world.

- You could limit installation privileges on his account to keep him from
doing this. Or, alternately, make him complete the reinstall and activation
process as penance for messing up the machine. Do it enough times and he may
begin thinking twice before installing things willy-nilly if he knows it's
his time that will be occupied by cleaning it up.
