Windows 2000 Stop Error

I have a Windows 2000 Server that I recently tried to install a USB external
drive on. Upon doing so I receive the following blue screen error. If I turn
the drive off, I can reboot without getting the error. But as soon as the
drive is turned it BSOD's.

Stop: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005, 0x80463693, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Any ideas how to make the drive work? I have the same drive on my XP laptop,
no problems. I didn't see a new driver from the manufacturer. Should I look
for BIOS updates for the server? IBM xSeries 220 Type 8645

If the USB ports are on the motherboard (as opposed to a separate PCI card)
I'd try updating the motherboard chipset drivers first.

I tried plugging the device into another Windows 2000 Server (this one a
Dell) and it found it no problem. Also I am not sure that the USB ports are
integreted on the problem server. They may be on a PCI card. I haven't had
a chance to crack the case open or even look closely at the back of the
server. IF they are on a pci card, what would you suggest?

The quickest, easiest and probably cheapest way to sort this out would be to
buy a PCI USB 2.0 card.

Installed 4-port USB 2.0 pci card. Server found the card with no problems.
Rebooted, plugged in USB drive....BLAM same error....HELP!!!!
