NO! Both are considered to be Operating Systems and you can not "replace"
XP with an older version.

However, you can set up a "dual-boot" system, where you can boot into XP or
Windows 2000 Pro.

I have a Laptop with Windows XP Home edition installed on
it. I would like to have it dual booted with Windows 2000
and Windows Xp. So which OS should I load first IS it XP
or Windows 2000. and other question is that how will I
partition my HArd Drive.

Is it possible to install winows 2000 professional onto windows xp?

As a dual boot - yes. Over the top of XP - no. You would have to
do a clean install of Win2000 to replace XP. If you wish to install
Win2000 as a dual boot along with XP, go here for instructions:

That is going backwards and can only be done by formatting the disk and
doing a clean install

But that does not answer his question. He says nothing about wanting to dual
boot.

He implies that he wants to install Windows 2000 instead of the Windows XP
he already has installed. Windows 2000 is NOT an upgrade for Windows XP. He
will need to perform a clean format/install of Windows 2000, wiping out his
Windows XP installation.
