Windows 2000 Pro power down problem

I have 2 systems running windows 2000 and windows ME when
I shut down ME all works fine but when I shut down Windows 2000
it never completely shuts down, rather it hangs on the Windows 2000
is shutting down screen.
Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

If the system was not original designed for Win2000 there is a big chance
you need to update your BIOS if posible.

you are not the only one with this problem. I myself have
the same problem but can find no answer to this yet. 2
out of 7 dell optiplex's won't shut down (have to hold
button for 5 sec). They all of the latest bios.
