Windows 2000, log-in

Fredrick Browder

Hi everyone and anyone. I most recently ran diskeeper to
defrag my harddrive as usual. This time after reviewin
the report, I decided to go into some of the log files and
delete entries going back as far as 2002,leaving at least
the last months log entries. Well, after shuting down the
pc, the next day I can't get past windows login (loading
personl preferences). It sets there for hours with no new
function. In other words I can't get to the desktop. It
appears it is looking for my personal preference to no
avail.

I would appreciate any good advice how I may get back to
the desktop to get into my programs. If not possible, how
can I get into DOS to maybe copy some program files before
I partition and reinstall my harddrive and loosing some
favorite files a year old.

Thank you in advance. This is urgent.

Try an alternate account first.
As regards recovery, what file system is the volume (Fat or NTFS).

This is possibly not a registry issue, but say what you did in
greater detail.
