windows 2000 hot fixes

Hello,

Each time I configure and install win2k on a pc I then have to install
service pack 4 and then run automatic update that finds 40 hotfixes. Each
time it must download them and this is a lenghty process and is using network
ressource for no reason. Is there a way of downloading exe versions of these
hotfixes? I looked for IE service pack 1 and I found an exe that will then
run an installation program but not the actuall service pack itself?! Could
someone please help me, Is there a better way to deploy this?!

Thanks

SP4 can be slipstreamed with the W2K installation, or can be downloaded
and saved on other media. Full IE6 can also be downloaded and saved to
media, see here: http://www.compu-docs.com/ieadmininstall.htm

Most of the hotfixes can also be downloaded, when you run Windows Update
click on the "More Information" tab for the hotfixes and you will get a
link to the download file. If you are required to install certain
hotfixes in order (before applying others) just save them in separate
folders, for example, 1st Set, 2ndSet etc. The qchain tool can also be
used to install the hotfixes, but you can also install most them one
after another and do 1 reboot when you're done, so long as you reboot
after each set. To keep this somewhat manageable just download the
biggest or most important ones, then the small ones are easy and fast to
get when you go to the update site. When looking for these files on MS
site search for "Corporate Downloads" or "Network Downloads".
