Windows 2000 Domain Controller

B

Brian Patrick

Are there problems when running a Windows 2000 domain controller and having
Windows 2003 servers apart of the domain? I've added a domain user via
Active Direction on the domain controller. When I'm on my Windows 2003
server, I've have logged into the domain. I'm trying to give a domain user
permissions to a folder. For some reason, I'm only able to see local users,
and I don't have a choice to view domain users. Like I said, I've logged
into the domain, and I can ping the 2000 PDC, so I'm very confused...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

There are no issues with using 2003 servers as member servers in a 2000
AD domain. We do that successfully. It sounds like your server is not
actually connecting to the domain. You may be logging in with a cached
account. I would try to login as someone who has never logged onto
that server before (remember, has to be an admin, might need to create
a test admin account). Make sure that user can connect to the domain.
