Windows 2000 and dot matrix printing

Are there any known issues with Win2k Server and dot
matrix printing? (other than KB271551)

Upgraded from NT 4.0 Server to 2k Server and now can't get
my wide carriage dot matrix Okidata ML395 to print draft
mode. NLQ is waay too slow, it takes hours for reports to
print out. Went and bought a new Epson DFX-5000+ (which
wasn't cheap btw) and still having the same problem! I
can't get it to print draft mode no matter which driver,
printer settings, font or application I use to print. I am
completely frustrated at this point and need help please!

I am having a simular problem with an Epson printer, I contacted Epson and they told me to install it as a Generic
printer instead of choosing Epson and then choose text only
that did make it print in a draft mode but didn't completely solve my problem. The font size is still wrong
so it doesn't fill in my forms properly.

I can't say for sure, but try installing the driver for an "Epson FX"-class
printer (9-pin): the Okidata ML-320 (or the wide-carriage equivalent) to
start (even though it has a NLQ mode at 75cps) then moving backwards to the
Okidata ML-192 (or the wide-carriage equivalent). Find something that
understands the basic control language used by the Okidata (Epson FXLQ) but
doesn't have a graphics mode. The graphics mode is what Windows prefers to
print with, to get all the various True-Type font faces and sizes that are
available to the system.

Thanks Debbie, I did try using the Generic Text Only
driver but unfortunately in my case that didn't seem to
help. Rather than the print head printing bi-
directionally (printing one line of text with each pass
left-to-right and right-to-left) it's printing each line,
then returning to the left and printing the line again,
return to the left to print the next line, etc. I've
talked to tech support of my app, Epson and Okidata and
they've pretty much all told me the same things to try.
None of it has worked yet but I can't believe there isn't
a solution.
