dot matrix printer with windows xp

I am trying to print to a multi-part form on a dot matrix printer using
Windows XP Home. The printer will print a few forms correctly and then skip
a line of text every so often. I have tried three differect dot matrix
printers and they all do the same thing. The newest one is an Okidata dot
matrix printer that is on the Windows XP HCL (hardware compatability list).
When I view the print file, everything looks correct with all data present.
But, when it prints, it leaves out lines. Anyone know how to make the
printer print all lines without skipping?

Enter the computer's BIOS setup during computer start-up. Navigate to the
setting for the printer port used to connect to the printer (usually LPT1)/
If different, change it to Standard parallel port or SPP or bi-directional
parallel port or similar. If possible, do not set it to ECP or EPP or ECP &
EPP or similar. OK out. Make sure you save settings on exit.

Restart the computer. Try printing.

Let us know.
