Window open position

Hello all. WinXP Home/Athlon 2.6/512MB. Small annoyance perhaps someone can
help with. When I open a folder from anywhere or an Internet Explorer window
from a shortcut placed on the start menu, its previously set size, desktop
position and folder options are sometimes remembered and sometimes not, most
often not. Usually the folder opens about 2/3 full size and orients itself
towards, the upper left corner of the screen. I have tried everything I can
think of to remedy this but nothing has a lasting effect. Can anyone help.

This will fix IE, not sure about rest of folders. Try the
same thing, maybe it'll work :)
Open an IE window, get it to the size and position you
want. Click File->Close
Open IE again, hope it works.

Thanks for your suggestion. That is one of the things I have tried already.
Tried it again. Still does not work for IE or any other window/folder.
