Win2K loses Network!

On my Compaq Presario notebook PC with WIn2K Professinal
OS I lose the network properties every 2-3 months. I
HAVE to reinstall WIn2K OS to get the network properties
back. I have done it about 4 times now.

The last time it happened, I started reinstalling Win2K,
but now I am getting an error "Error loading
setupEAKDLL.dll - The specified module could not be
found." while installing the OS. After letting it install
the OS I am unable to use the IE6 browser or connect to
the other PCs in my workgroup.

Search thru the FAQs did not give me a solution. Has
anyone experienced this problem???????

Dave Patrick:
Thanks for your post. But the problem is probably not the
network interface. I have Win2k SERVER OS on a different
partition of the same HD. If i log in to Win2k Server the
PC works just fine.

Here is some more details of the error message:

SUb-component COM+ raised an exception while processing

"OC_Complete_Installation setup message.
Error code = 0x8004e00f
COM+ was unable to talk to to MS distributed Transaction
coordinator.
Setup was unable to populate the 'Local Computer'
collection."

Error loading setupEAKDLL.dll could not be found.

Does any of this shed more light in resolving the issue?

Thanks.

Sounds like your network interface may be failing.

AFAIK it's nothing to do with the operating system. These were the only hits
I could find. Afraid I can't read them though. Could be a driver related or
possibly no Windows 2003 driver available for some of your hardware.

Distributed Transaction Coordinator coordinates transactions that are
distributed across multiple computer systems and/or resource managers, such
as databases, message queues, file systems, or other transaction-protected
resource managers. The Distributed Transaction Coordinator is necessary if
transactional components are going to be configured through Component
Services (COM+). It is also required for transactional queues in Message
Queuing (MSMQ) and Microsoft SQL ServerT operations that span multiple
systems. Disabling this service prevents these transactions from occurring.

So this error may be a result of the issue with your network interface.
