Win2K corrupted registry

P

Paul Lewis

Hi,

I have managed to do a stupid thing on my w2k registry. While trying to
diagnose some problems on another machine I had the 'bright' idea to
import the other machines registry to review it.

I know, I know, not a good thing to do. Anyway I can still sign into the
machine using the administrator identity but only through the win2k safe
mode.

Just about everything is disabled or not working, I would like to recover
some files form the machine but all networking is disabled.

Any suggestions as to how to proceed from here??

TIA

Hi,

Well your computer is not in good shape right now
However we can try few steps

1) Look for latest Backup if you have , restore the system state
2) Look for regback folder in c:\winnt and copy the software and system
files from regback folder to c:\winnt\system32\config , you can do this
job from recovery console
3) Copy the software and system from c:\winnt\repair to system32\config but
this will bring the computer back to new state
