Win2000 very slow to delete a file

Hi there,

I'm on Windows 2000, build 2195 SP 4. When I delete a file
or a folder for Windows Explorer, it takes a full minute
to delete, even when it's just a tiny text file or an
empty folder. Same with deleting a favorite in IE. I don't
have any other performance problems, and I have plenty of
RAM and the hard drive is only half full. Starngely, if I
just drag the file or folder to the recycle bin, it works
fine. The disk doesn't need to be defragged, although I
can hear it churning away while deleting the file.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!Dave

I cannot say I am an expert in that area but deleting a file and moving
it to the recycle bin probably do not involve the same process, even if
the end result is the same. Have you tried disabling your antivirus to
see if it makes a difference? That would be my prime suspect.
