Win2000 SP4 Downgrades MSI Version

Because of the issue of Windows 2000 SP3 "breaking"
Office 2000 installations (see KB article 324906) I made
sure that all Win2000 systems were updated to MSI 2.0 and
that the MSIREGMV.EXE was run after the update.
So I built my collections on the updated version of the
new MSI 2.0 which WAS 2.0.2600.2.
Now I am finding my non-compliant collection starting to
grow and now learn that Microsoft has "patched" the MSI
2.0 within Win2000 SP4 to 2.0.2600.1183. Just thought I'd
pass that on. It seems that the MSI version is going
backward now.
So which is the newer version of the MSI?

Thanks,
Fred Dunn

But 1183 is a bigger number than 2?
From
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/u...l=/library/en-us/dndotnet/html/managevers.asp

"Version numbers are stored as a 128-bit number that is logically partitioned
into four 32-bit numbers. This means that each of the four parts can be any
number in the range zero to 65,536."

Using dots to separate the numbers may not have been the brightest idea ever.
