if i try to set up any new application i am getting the
error

The Win16 Subsystem was unable to enter Protected
Mode,DOSX.EXE must be in your AUTOEXEC.NT and present in
your PATH

if some one could help me in this matter it would be very
much help ful

Check your PATH statement and ensure that it has an entry to your
%systemroot%\system32 directory.
-For PATH either type "PATH" at a command prompt (w\o quotes) and\or in
system properties - advanced - environment variables. If not listed, add it
in to the existing PATH statement in the environment variable and reboot.
That's one possible solution.

There are other causes as well. If you remember what you were working on
when it started to fail, it could help the group point you in the right
direction.
