The Win16 Subsystem was unable to enter Protected Mode,

The Win16 Subsystem was unable to enter Protected Mode,
DOSX.EXE must be in your AUTOEXEC.NT and present in your
PATH.

I get the above error message when I try to install
software. The PATH is good, Autoexec.nt is good.
What do I do now?

It sounds like you are trying to install an old DOS program that may
need to access the hardware or is in some other way incompatible with
Windows XP. Since you didn't give us the name of the program, an answer
from others who may be running that same program and have specific
advice for you is impossible. However, try running the program under
Compatibility Mode (see Help & Support for instructions). If the
program still will not run under Compatibility Mode, then it will
probably not run under Windows XP. Either find a program which will do
what you want that is designed for this operating system or run an
older operating system.

If you need more help, please repost and include the name of the program
you are trying to install and what you've already done to troubleshoot
the problem.

Cheers,

I get the same message when I try to load my Clie NR70V software which is fairly new. I also get that message when I click on my menu for dell express code. I did a bootlog and found that my autoexec.nt and config.nt were not loaded. Could this be everyones's problem with XP?
