Dear WinXP gurus:
I have solved a lot of connectivity issues in my time, but this one is over
my head. The machine on which I am typing this message is able to connect
to anything--outbound. However, it will not even respond to a ping from
another host from anywhere. This is a problem since this machine hosts a
shared printer and CD burner for my household. Interestingly enough, when I
ping the machine (by IP address), I can see the packets received count going
up steadily, but nothing is being sent out. This is after I have turned off
both Windows firewall and the Trend Micro firewall.
I used to be able to connect to this machine from other hosts on my home
network. I had some shared folders and shared the printer. However, for
whatever reason, it no longer works. I'm not sure, but it may have broken
down when I installed SP2.
Has anyone seen similar behavior?
Thank you in advance for your assistance
