When I turn on the system, the wmp11 linksys wireless
network is recognized by the Access Point, signal is
strong, DHCP address is assigned and connection
established. After a few minutes, the signal strength drops
from 11MPS to 1MBPS, then the signal strength drops to
nothing and the connection is lost. When I check the
available networks, the network SSID is gone. I do a
refresh, it reappears, connection is re-established and the
cycle starts all over again. I have loaded all the critical
and recommended patches on the OS and updated the driver to
the latest linksys Version-4 driver for XP. I have another
system with the same OS and Network card connected to the
same Access Point and it works fine. I swapped cards
between the two machines and the does not follow the card.
I am at a loss. Oh I also unchecked the "Enable IEEE 802.1x
authentication for this network" box on the wireless
authentication tab for the card configuration as
recommended by linksys support.
Can anyone provide a fix for this problem? Oh, ny system is
an HP Pavilion P3 with 803Mhz and 256Meg of RAM.
