Win XP and .Net framework

Hello everyone! Please help this newbie understand .net and how it
interacts with Win XP.

Let me start by saying that I am the only user of my system, so xp
automatically logs on to the desktop whenever I power up. I installed the
..net framework and saw the new account it created called asp.net. Before
uninstalling .net, I tried to tweak everything I could to rid myself of
the login box upon startup. I couldn't find anything to help so I
uninstalled .net and now my system logs on to the desktop.

I went to the Microsoft .net site and tried to find out more about .net
and whether I should use it. In addition to that, I saw a couple of
threads about a fix for autologoin with .net installed. It called for a
reg edit of some sort (sorry can't remember... autologin2 or something?)
Has anyone used this fix? I've never edited my registry before, and am a
little wary about treading into unknown waters... If there's a way to
auto logon to windows and start at the desktop with .net framework
installed, could you please tell me how to do it?

In order to use .net, the asp.net user account has to stay on the system,
right? Or is that account only used when connecting to somewhere outside
my system? In order to use the .net framework on only my system do I need
to log on with the asp.net user account? I have a game that people have
developed mods for and in order to use them, you need to have .net
installed. Is .net there when I'm logged in as the adminstrator rather
than the asp.net account? Is it possible to delete the asp.net account
and still be able to run mods for my game?

I have searched the .net site and can't find anything to help explain to
me how .net works with xp... any assistance here would be greatly
appreciated!!

Thank you!

Today, you would not notice any difference deleting this user, but you never
know what will happen in the future.

If you do not have this asp.net.framework installed, you can get it later?

Yes.

and is it a have to have?

No (not unless you install a program that requires it, but then it will tell you).

Yes, you can get it later.
Yes, it's a have to have IF you install a program that utilizes it.

Hi,

Did you try Tweak UI for XP? You can download it from microsoft.com.
Then you can set a particular user automaticaly to logon even he/she has a
password.

Take care ;)
