Win SBS 2k Privileges troubleshooting

Angus

I have a win2k domain with 5 users, SBS 2k . I belong to
the administrator/domain group, yet I cannot update
windows xp on a work station error message, require
administrative privilege. I have logged on and logged off
the workstation and even reboot the server with no effect
so not a problem with timing of changes to membership
groups. I think the problem is that for some reason
windows is not recognising the administrator privilege
yet I cannot find an error message relating to this,
guess this would only occur if auditing was enabled. Only
the default windows security template has been applied
and no restrictions are prevalent their. Any advice or
tips would be appreciated.

Right-click on the Start menu. If you see "Explore All Users" then you are
being recognized as an admin. Easy way to test :) Umm I think Power Users
might also see that though.

Run LUSRMGR.MSC from Start --> Run and see what groups are part of the local
Administrators group. Is the Domain Admins group (or any other group that
you belong to) in there?

Anyway, once you have established that you are an administrator, look here:
