Win Moviemaker 2 & HighMat techology

MOVIE SAVED TO A recordable CD IS ENCODED BY THE NEW
HighMAT technology and must be played back by consumer
equipmet that is compatible with HighMAT technolog. If I
save my movie to computer "My Videos" and then copy the
files to CD, will this still be in the HighMAT format?
Will HighMat encoded CDs play back on most Windows Media
Players?
What companies are currently marketing DVD players
compatible wih HighMAT> I have WindowsXP home.

Max,

The movie files are the standard version 9 WMV files that play with Windows
Media Player version 7 or higher.

The HighMAT technology is the menu structure on the CD and doesn't effect
the movie files themselves.

There are many DVD players on the market with the HighMAT logo. They support
the menu structure but play only audio and picture files. None of them yet
will play a WMV video file.

No matter how you copy a WMV video file to a CD, you'll have the same issue.
They can play on a computer, but not yet on a stand-alone DVD player.

Hey Max,

The short answer is yes - Movie Maker only creates wmv files which are
HighMAT compatible, and even with just copying them over to CD a HighMAT
player will be able to play them.

wmv files not created by Movie Maker may or may not be HighMAT compatible
(There are some limitations on bitrate, resolution, etc.).

As Papajohn mentions, a large part of HighMAT is the menu structure, which
allows DVD players / CD players to index the contents of a disc much faster
and display menus. If you're copying a bunch of music and video files over
(from My Music / My Videos), you may want to download the HighMAT Extension
for Windows XP CD Writing Wizard (http://www.highmat.com/ - go to
Downloads). This will automatically create the HighMAT menu structure for
you, and notify you if any files written to the CD are not HighMAT
compatible.

There is also a HighMAT viewer available on the same site, which will give
you the full menu experience on HighMAT discs, just as you'd see it on your
TV using the upcoming HighMAT players.
