Win Explorer Hanging On Shutdown

I

Ian

Everytime I shutdown, the end program now dialog box
appears informing me that Explorer.exe is waiting to
shutdown. It gives me the choice to end now or wait. Does
anyone know of a registry entry that would fix this, or do
I have to re-install Win 2000.

Thank You
Ian

Make sure you are up-to-date with your service packs.
Before you shutdown stop all third party applications and
then shutdown and see if you can find out which one might
be causing a problem. Often it is an application running
in the system tray that causes this problem.

I've stopped every application running in the taskbar, one
at a time, and that didn't solve the problem. Updates are
up to SP 4.

Probably either a service or a driver that won't shut down.
You should look in Event Viewer to see what's happing at
shutdown. Don't just look at events marked as errors. Some
problems don't get flagged as errors.
