Win 98 upgrade to win 2000

I have upgraded from win 98 to win 2000 and have lost all
my documents. During the installation I was told through
the prompts that this would not happen. Can this be fixed
or recovered?

Check for the existence of a ~ directory in your documents and settings,
your profile might have been moved there.
