Win 2000 and AMD 64

Hi to all,

I plan to build a new computer based on the new AMD Athlon 64 processor. I've already read that, for this new system, it's preferable to use the new version of Win XP specially developped for this processor by Microsoft: Win XP 64.

I use actually Win 2K Pro. Any body here, on this forum, can tell me if My actual OS can run on the new computer?

Don't worry, I have already stored the link to get (in test of course....) this new version of Win XP 64. This one is a beta version.

Thanks for any information on this subject.

Regards,

Elodie

Hi again,

I've got the reply to my question.

In fact Win 2K pro is a win32 software. The Amd 64 processor allows to run, with a high performance, all 32 bits applications. So for the moment I can use My actual OS.

Win Xp 64 allows 32 bits and 64 bits applications together.

AMD 64 Opteron costs actually 800 $ so I will wait a moment to by it.

Thanks for all brainstorming.

Elodie.
