Widescreen LCD Monitor HP L2335 has some motion blur in Quake 3.

Well I was just playing around with my monitor settings... I was looking for
a way to prevent the auto resizing etc... I just want to run 1 on 1 all the
time etc... it's a bit weird oh well.

I also noticed these color values... like 9000 kelvin and 6000 kelvin or
something like that.

I wonder what that is all about. If I set it to 9000 kelvin can I "hurt" my
monitor that ? Will it last less long ?

Anyway... my picture quality is kinda looking like crap right now lol but I
like it like that.

I want it to be a bit darker... because I mostly computer in the darkness...
so here I am spending 1000 euro's and my picture quality at least in windows
is just as crap as my CRT lol... but that's because of my brightness setting
hehe.

Anyway... I did find this review will searching for some more information
about this monitor:

http://www.prad.de/en/monitore/review_hp_l2335.html

This review explains what I already know... they call it the "crystal
effect".

Tomorrow my case will arrive and then I can build my super computer. The
crystal effect will probably remain which is ****ing bad.

Anyway this review is pretty nice... it has lot's of nice picture showing
off the monitor ;)

I must say I really like the menu of this monitor... I only wish it would do
the auto resize feature faster and better... because sometimes it fails to
do that... maybe dvi signal will make that work better...

Bye,
Skybuck.

That refers to color temperature, which is not a measure of heat but
rather the amount of red and blue in the light. Sodium vapor lamps
have a color temperature of about 2,300k. Incandescents are about
3,200. Mercury vapor is about 6,800. Clear blue sky is about
20,000k.

Some games have a vsync option.

However I searched for sync via
/cvarlist *sync
and
/cmdlist *sync

Quake 3 Arena doesn't seem to have a vsync option ???

I was wrong about that.

Quake 3 Arena (Demo) does appear to have a vsync option.

However the option is not in the system/graphics menu but in the game
options menu ;)

It's called:

"Sync Every Frame" ;) I have seen that before in RTCW lol. I knew it
had to have it lol... hehehe. I just couldn't find it so I started
believing it never had it hehehe.

Well this "Sync Every Frame" options doesn't seem to help that much ;)

Still tearing visible... maybe a bit less but ok.

Maybe that's because the old computer isn't fast enough to render at 70
fps... frame rate is only 60 fps and monitor is probably at 70 hz.

Well maybe later I connect the old monitor to the new pc... but not now
or today.. I dont feel like it.

When I do I let you know the results hehe ;)

Are you trying to run it in a window or fullscreen?

If FS on a wide form factor monitor, I can't think of any display
setting within Q3 that would run well on such an old machine.

BF2 will NOT run well at all in a wide resolution on nearly ANY
machine. Despite BF2 being a good concept for a game, the game itself
is horribly coded, as well as the lethargically slow authentication
routines before the bastard game even lets one play.

I can only laugh at your post...

Yes quake 3 plays very well on old and new machine.

Battlefield 2 (demo at least) plays very well at new machine.

Frame rates of 90 and up !!!

Lowest frame rate yet was 40 frames with 64 players.

Settings all high and 4x anti aliasing and sound at ultra high.

Can you believe it ?

You better because it's thruth... it's my dream system.

And now it's not a dream anymore...

So that makes it my VICTORY system =D

Yeah baby ;)

It truely is a victory system.

I **** those bastards up real goood =DDDDD lol.

I know that..

I still find it worrieing...

Do the monitors have to break an extra sweat to be able to display those
better colors ?

On crt monitors I know the answer... it's a probably yes...

On LCD I don't know...

I would like my LCD to last long with clearity and such.

I was at a store once and I saw a really nasty LCD.... with very blury
text/image.

Bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbad.

I hope my monitor does not end up like that for a looooong time... at least
5 years.. because that's how long my crt monitor lasted... however I have
the feeling that LCD will last only 3 years if I am lucky... because oh
boy... those transistors you know... those ****ers are breaking a sweat
aren't they ;)

Or maybe I am wrong... and maybe transistors are really good... look at my
cpu it's still going strong...

But then again maybe there are other things to take into account... for
example the liquid... maybe it hardens or dries up... god knows what could
happen.

Bye,
Skybuck.

Yeaaaahhhh today I transferred my outlook mail/news/settings to my new
computer... I still have to transfer the mail rules though...

But thanks to outlook express I can find these old threads real easy and
respond ot them...

Long life it all...

And I think I am gonna luvv FileDisk as well... very cool stuff.

Yeah I decided to give it a go.... and create partitions like mounting a cd
image... but this time for harddisk.. to prevent fragmentation and keep
stuff together... hopefully it's not buggy else I be screwed... I tried to
send them a mail via hotmail asking to be informed etc... I still have to do
tomorrow I guess or maybe I wont I don't know yet... but ****ing hotmail
website ****ing crashed and dished my mail... when it tried to safe the
e-mail addressess... so I got pissed off and really pissed off and had like
**** that...
must-get-outlook-express-working-because-it's-10x-times-better-lol =D

Byeee,
Skybuck ;)

We all find you worrying, but...
Do the monitors have to break an extra sweat to be able to display those

NO, professional monitors will have accurate colors (prepress people use
them). This certainly is one of the weak points of LCDs though. OTOH,
LCDs have perfect geometry, which makes them very good for CAD sorts of
applications.
On crt monitors I know the answer... it's a probably yes...
Geez!

On LCD I don't know...

They areb;t good enough for many photoshop experts, but...
I would like my LCD to last long with clearity and such.

Why would an LCD go "fuzzy"?
I was at a store once and I saw a really nasty LCD.... with very blury
text/image.

Bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbad.

....and you believe *anything* set up by some numb-nutz in a store? Most
stores I go into have every monitor set to 60Hz. That doesn't mean that's
all they can do. This LCD monitor (1680x1050) looks crappy on my Windows
machine because the 8 year-old graphics card doesn't understand the wide
format. Does that make the monitor junk?
I hope my monitor does not end up like that for a looooong time... at

You're certainly a wierd duck!
Or maybe I am wrong... and maybe transistors are really good... look at
my cpu it's still going strong...

Look in your skull. Everything should become clear.
But then again maybe there are other things to take into account... for
example the liquid... maybe it hardens or dries up... god knows what
could happen.

You might even grow up! ...AND stop top-posting! NAH!
