Running XP sp2. I am considering buying a wide screen LCD monitor. Do I need
to buy a new video card to handle the 1440x900 resolution?

Not if the one you currently have is capable. Try looking up the specs
at the card manufacturers website.

Depends on the specs of the card you have the driver that's installed. It's
hard for us to guess since you didn't give any info on what card you have.

Naively he asks...Doesn't Start/settings/control
panel/display/settings/.....indicate the screen resolution settings
available on my machine?....if so 1440x900 is not listed.

My card is a Nvidia GeForce fx5200.
