Why won't XP give me the option to always open an mp3 cd with my player of choice?

When I insert a cd of mp3's into my cd player, Real Player tries to
open it even though I do not have anything other than RP files
selected as a file that Real Player should try to open.

Okay, so I go to the cd in question, right click and choose
properties, hoping to be able to tell Windows to always open this type
of file with my player of choice, Quintessential.

But Windows ONLY gives the following choices for what I would like
Windows to do with this type of file:
Real Player
WMP
Open the folder
Take no action

How can I get Quintessential Player (or others) into that list of
choices? or otherwise make it open a cd filled with mp3's with that
player?

I do have Quintessential's options set as as the default player for
that type of file (Mp3) but still Real Player tries to open and play
the cd.

Thanks for your help.

I HATE the media wars!

p.s. I'm using XP Home Ser Pack 1

This is not necessary. After right-clicking on the file, BROWSE to the
desired program and then check the "always use this program" box..

But that does not solve the AutoPlay problem.
To solve the Auto Play problem, the program you want to use has to be
put into the Auto Play menu.

Like this:

You can assign XP to open or run programs based on your choice in the
new AutoPlay tab in drive properties. But there isn't an easy way to
add or change your choices -- enter XP PowerToys.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
STEPS

1.. Download Microsoft's PowerToys for XP and install.
2.. Run TweakUI. Choose My Computer from the list.
3.. Click the + on AutoPlay, then select Handlers.
From here, you can add your own selections or edit existing selections
at will.
For example, you may want to run a CD player you purchased when you
insert a
music disk.

When finished, close TweakUI, right click on your drive, click on the
AutoPlay
tab and you will see your entry.

Thanks for your help.
