Why won't the OUTLOOK process end?

After I exit Outlook 2003 I notice that the OUTLOOK process is still running.
If I open Outlook again, another instance of this process starts. With the
process running the .pst is technically open and I can't back it up.

How can I ensure that the process ends when I close Outlook?

Hey Russ,

It turned out that when I disabled Exhange Server extensions and Fax server
add-ins the processes closed properly.

Thanks for the tip!

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click
either the X or Exit:
1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. Franklin-Cover Plan Plus!
3. COM Add-ins.
4. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background
to check for new mail and fire reminders.
5. Anti-virus programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing mail.
6. Windows Search has not finished indexing your data file.
