Why won't my DVD player on my tv play this burned CD?

Can anyone tell me why when I've tried my DVD player in my family room, and
my dad's DVD player that this won't play this movie. I know it works to play
on a computer and my DVD player will read CD's, but won't this work on a
regular DVD player? I tried other formats, even told to use the NTSC
formats. I've tried a few different formats, none will work on my home DVD
player

To play a movie on a DVD player...you
need software that can create a VCD...
(this assumes you do not have a DVD
burner)

First you would save your project to a
folder on your hard drive as a movie...
File / Save Movie File...or type...Ctrl+P.

Next...you need to import the completed
..wmv or .avi movie file into a software
program that will create a VCD. Most
DVD players will play a VCD...check
the manual for your DVD player for
compatibility. A VCD is a Video Disk
created on a CD instead of a DVD.

I've had success with a program called
'InterVideo WinDVD Creator'...there are
many others...'NeroVision Express'...is
another example. The main thing is the
program must be able to create a VCD
from a .wmv or .avi video file.

My computer does have a DVD burner, though this program calls for a CD. Do I
just use a DVD instead of a CD and which format do I use?
I'm wondering if I have other software that will allow me to create the VCD.
I have Microsoft Picture it, but I have the lower version, bought back in
2003, and I bought the $30 version, not the $40 or $50 version. Do I need
that or do I just go into some program that must be on my computer since I
have a DVD burner?

If by saying, "this program calls for a CD"...
you are referring to Windows Movie Maker....
it does not have the option to create a VCD.
And...neither does your version of Picture It!.

The Windows XP Media Center machines
have an option to create a DVD from Windows
Movie Maker but the results are reported to
ne inconsistent and it's still best to use third
party software.

Check the documentation that came with your
PC...you may have software that will solve your
problem.

The following links offer some ideas on how
to create a DVD if you have the proper
software.

how do you know if you have a DVD burner?
================================
If your DVD drive is a burner...the front panel
of the drive would probably say: DVD RW /
Rewritable.

If you have a DVD drive that is not a burner
it would probably say: DVD ROM / Player

There are also DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo
Drives that can burn a CD but will only read
a DVD.
