Well my friend I have tyhe same problem. I have contacted Dell and worked
wwith them for over an hour and still have the problem of not being able to
open attachments (the one that has the envelope and the title of the
attachment). Now if it is a video (like you tube) or PDF file it opens. I
have an anti-virus "WEBROOT" who I worked with for about 1/2 hour and they7
couldn't find anything either. Can someone please help out this 80 year old
(former Marine)? Thanks, Semper Fi

Sorry, I don't have an answer..I'm just tagging along with your message. I
have the same problem with Outlook 2003, It happened without any error
message or anything, I just cant open the attachment that has the little
envelope and when you click on the title, it turns on a blue backroung and
"NOTHING HAPPENS". I can open a "You Tube" atachment, a PDF attachment
and/or a video to play, but thats it. If and when you reply, please keep it
simple, I'm an 80 year old former Marine that doesn't know too much about
computers. Any assistance will be appreciated.

I don't think you have the same issue as the OP. I think your issue is
caused by Google Desktop Search as you only have issues opening attached
messages. This is a know issue with GDS. Uninstall it or update it to the
latest version.

Is the message also blank when you use the web based mail client provided by
your ISP/admin?
If you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook, disable this
integration and download the message again.
Otherwise; post more configuration info to work with.

Roady,

Going to show you how knowledgable I am pertaining to computers, "I don't
know what you are talking about", mail client, and I don't know how to
uninstall GDS and reinstall the latest verison. Ya got ya hands full with
me, sorry. Can you drop your explanation down to my level?

Thanks,

Ken

Followed the link I gave you already?
GDS can be uninstalled like any other application via Control Panel->
Add/Remove Programs
