Why is Word "greyed out" as my email editor?

I want to use MS Word as my emailk editor, but in EMail format options, the
choice of word for email or rich text editing is inmaccessible (greyed out).
Why, and how can I change this?

Have you set Word to do email?

could you be more specific ... "set Word to 'do' email" - where and how would
i set Word to 'do' email? I know where to set EMail to use Word as its
editor, but - it is greyed out. Thank you!!!

This happens when using an older version of Word compared to Outlook.

Have you set Word to do email?

As Martina says, the versions of Word and Outlook you are using must be the
same. That is, if you are using Outlook 2003, your version of Word must be
Word 2003. Et cetera.
