Why is there a white box around hyperlinks after a windows update?

This is really annoying.....

Recently, my computer (without my permission) installed software from a
Microsoft update that makes everything a ton slower. When I used to click on
a hyperlink (for instance, all the links on my MySpace page,) it would just
go over the link and I would have the option of clicking it or not clicking
it. After this update, whenever there's a hyperlink on a webpage, a white
box first appears around the area where the hyperlink is located. Now, you
have to click once to remove the white box and then click again to get your
desired link. You can see what I'm talking about when you visit my MySpace
page (if you use windows:) www.myspace.com/80sband

Can this feature be turned off? It really slows everything down!! Any help
would be appreciated!

Gee, if you didn't put about two hundred applets, plug-ins and media
windows on one page it might not take so long for everything to load up.
Is there supposed to be a screen shot buried somewhere in all that?
