Ppt 2003, WIndows xp home

Converted an avi to a smaller avi using the cinepak codec.

The file plays using the mci player by running mplay32.
It plays in media player 9 and in quicktime.

When i insert it into ppt - insert - movie form file -
.....then it shows as a black box. When i click on it
to play it i get an error message " there is no driver
installed on your system".

Why oh why smart people, can every media player on my
machine play this file, yet ppt tells me my system hasnt
go the driver.

With more grey hairs and less total hair (due to serioue
hair pulling)

I believe there's something with PPT 2003 and how it hands off AVI and MPEG
files from mplay32.exe to Windows Media Player. Believe it or not, PPT 2003
actually uses Windows Media Player for some multimedia files.

Since the file plays in mplay32.exe, it *should* play in PPT. Can you email
me the AVI? I'd like to send it on to MS.
