Why is Linked Table Manager list of tables empty?

I have both Office 2003 and Access 97 installed (moving from 97 to 2003). In
either version, the list of linked tables is empty (there are a dozen or more
linked tables, to access table only databases). I have tried re registering
accwiz.dll - to no avail. I have reinstalled Office 2003 - to no avail. If
I hover over one of the linked tables, the link shows. I can delete the
links and re-link but the Linked Table Manager list of tables is still empty.
It makes no difference whether I go to Tools, Database Utilities, Linked
Table Manager or right click on a table and click Linked Table Manager. I am
at my wits end and tired of spending hours deleting and relinking. Help!

If reregistering the dll doesn't work, then change the following registry
key
HKey_Classes_Root\TypeLib\{5B87B6F0-17C8-11D0-AD41-00A0C90DC8D9}\8.0\0\win32
\(Default)

It needs to have the correct path to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\ACCWIZ.DLL
