Why is Autocomplete name suggesting so slow?

Autocomplete name suggesting in the To, CC, or BCC fields is REALLY slow.

Why is this?

Thanks

I've never seen autocompletion slow. I've seen autoresolution slow. Clarify
which you mean.

I and a few colleagues have just installed OL 2007 over top of OL XP. All of
us are seeing very sluggish response when we are typing names into these
address fields. After placing the cursor there, you begin to type a name and
the cursor freezes without showing anything you typed, then after a few
seconds delay, the suggested names from the .NK2 file appear. Until the
initial list appears, you can do nothing (frozen). After the list appears,
typing additional letters immediately modifies the list. However, if you try
to backspace (delete) any of these letters, there is again a freeze and after
a few seconds, the new list is presented.

I tried creating a new profile and this did not help whatsoever.

Last clarification, my .nk2 file is 1Mb in size. I've renamed it .old to see
if starting from scratch helps.
