Auto Complete Doesn't Work

My husband has been sending and receiving emails with Outlook 2003 for many
months. The tools>options>email options>advanced email options>"suggest
names while completing to,cc, and bcc fields" box is checked. On his laptop
and on my computer, when you type "m" in the "to" field, it will autocomplete
the most frequent "m" contact (mary), but not on his computer. He has to
click the to box and find the contact by scrolling or typing. Why isn't his
autocomplete working?

What happens if he keeps typing more than one letter?

nothing happens. If he types a whole name, mary, then when he clicks send,
the address book will appear asking him to choose which mary. There is no
auto complete at all.

What if he uses Alt+K to resolve the name? Does it stick the next time? He
may need to rename his N2K file and start over.

Oh, that is a good trick. I typed "m" then alt+k and chose the right mary
from the box. The next time I typed "m", outlook suggested that mary. That
seems to solve the problem, thanks a lot!

Excellent - I use that little shortcut all the time at work!

It's great that there's a trick for this, but why does this happen in the
first place? Is there a way to prevent this from breaking in the first place?
