Why don't all my posts appear?

Sometimes I do a New Post but my question never appears. Why is that? I hate
wasting my time writing a question out and thinking I'll get help and then
go back and find it never was posted.

Sorry about the first empty reply. I hit the double-click by mistake.

With respect to your question, this happens to me too. However some times I
have seen replies to my posts even when I can't see the original post. This
happens when my ISP isn't on the ball enough to refresh sufficiently
frequently and the message is deleted off the newsgroup server before they
get it. I've complained to them and they give limp excuses but it still
happens.

You could switch to another newsgroup server. Others can be found that
are free (via google). For Microsoft newsgroups, use
msnews.microsoft.com (see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/directory/worldwide/en-gb/newsout.asp

I too have had this problem several times but the quality
of the replies i get to my questions always makes it
worth typing the question in again.

Two of many possibilities:
-How long are you waiting to check after posting ? There is a lag which
varies from minutes to an hour.
-I'm guilty of this one: Did you send it ? I have gone to my outbox,
noticing something is in there, to find that a post wasn't sent.

Others may have more.

Hi, Nick - and Dave Gower, too.

Many news servers simply "slurp" messages from the server that hosts that
newsgroup and relay them - and any replies - back and forth, often resulting
in posts that are delayed, out of sequence, or just plain lost. Why don't
you "cut out the middleman" and connect directly to the Microsoft public
news server, which is free and does not require you to log on. That is the
home base for over 2,000 of these microsoft.public.* newsgroups.

Unless you are blocked by something like a corporate firewall, just click
here:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics

That should open OE (if it isn't already open), set up the News Account for
the MS public server, subscribe you to this newsgroup, and bring you right
back here - but connected directly, this time, rather than through your
former news server. Later, you can click Newsgroups | Reset List to see all
the other groups available.

And ALL your posts and all the replies will appear and stay for at least a
month, or until you set OE to delete them.
