why doesn't Outlook recognize my Office data file?

I saved a copy of my Outlook folder on my old computer and now I am trying to
open my Outlook data file on my new one and it doesn't recognize when I try
to open it. The icon appears the same and the file is still called Office
Data file but I have to click on show all files to see it in outlook and then
when I click on it it it says that "The file is you choose is not an outlook
data file." I also tried importing and it says "file access denied. You do
not have the permission required to access the file c:\outlook\outlook.NK2.
My other computer is gone and this the only back up I have. Any ideas.

I'd suggest asking this in a newsgroup that's related to Outlook.

This newsgroup is for questions about interacting with external data sources
using Access, the database product that's part of Office Professional.
