why does outlook 2007 freeze periodically requiring reboot

Periodically , once or twice per day, my outlook 2007 freezes and I can not
send or receive email. The other functions work such as calender or contacts.
If I close program and try to reopen, it won't reopen. The only way to be
able to receive and send email once this occurs is to reboot the system. The
outlook freeze does not affect the operating system or other programs. I read
one message on web that maybe outlook freezes if pst or ost files too big so
i tried moving some of archived files and closing them and it helped but has
not resolved issue entirely.
